Public Engagement & Equity Update Oct 21 2022 Part 2

DPS Twin Cities Public Television Partnership Continues
This fall, the Minnesota Department of Public Safety’s Office of Communications (DPS-OOC) is continuing its longstanding partnership with Twin Cities Public Television (TPT Now, Channel 2.5) to translate 10 public safety messages for Hmong, Somali, and Spanish-speaking Minnesotans. Topics will include REAL ID, assistance for crime victims, school safety, deadly driving, drugged driving, alternative ways to reach 911, sex trafficking, winter driving safety, the See It, Say It, Send It app, and testing smoke and CO alarms.
Connecting Current Farmers Considering Retirement with Beginning Farmers
Minnesota FarmLink, a listing service for Minnesota farms and land parcels for sale or rent, now offers users the ability to post, edit, and delete their own listings. Visitors to the site also now have the opportunity to browse the listings without logging in to an account.

In addition to listings of farms and land parcels for sale or rent, FarmLink also has categories for Beginning/Emerging Farmers looking to work alongside a current farm owner on future ownership transition, current farmers looking for successors, job seekers and job postings, and mentorship/internship postings and seekers.

More information about FarmLink is available on the MDA website.
COVID-19 Booster Update and Testing Sites
This week Governor Tim Walz announced that Minnesotans can schedule appointments for children ages 5-11 to receive an updated bivalent booster at state-run vaccination sites. The announcement follows updated recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that expanded the use of updated (bivalent) COVID-19 vaccines to children ages 5 through 11 years to protect them against newer Omicron variants.

Vaccination will start this week at the state-run vaccination sites at Mall of America, Duluth, Moorhead, Rochester, and St. Paul. Parents can start making appointments now.
