Our KIS Staff Interpreter had the exciting opportunity to interpret for DCSC at an event featuring best seller Jess Lourey. Thank you for your incredible work in providing seamless accessibility for our community!

If you want to attend a fun gathering event? DCSC is hosting a movie night at B & B Theater for Beetlejuice 2 Open Caption! The tickets are almost sold out! Come and interact with us at there!Meeting Jess Lourey was an incredible experience! I understand that the timing and location didn’t work for most of our community, but I’ll do my best to find future opportunities for us to join her again. I highly encourage our community to participate next time—there’s so much to learn and gain from experiences like this. Jess shared how writing became her path to healing from trauma, improving her mental health by processing through writing and gaining perspective from research. She’s also deeply inspired by motivation and often researches topics to bring authenticity to her books. Her journey and passion for storytelling were truly eye-opening!

Many thanks to our KIS interpreter for making this event accessible to our community. Your work made a huge difference!

Guess what? Another day at the State Fair means more fun with our awesome KIS interpreters! 🎡

Hannah Merren and Liz Crosby were on hand to facilitate communication between staff at the Minnesota Commission of the Deaf, DeafBlind & Hard of Hearing and members of the public. The Commission staff were booth guests at the Minnesota Council on Disability's booth at the State Fair. But they’d LOVE to say hi if you swing by the Education Building! And who knows—you might just learn something new while you’re there! Don’t be shy—come on over and make their day! 👋🏼👋🏼

Image Description: Two people smiling at the camera, both wearing black color T-shirt. Person on left have brown hair in updo with black headwear. Person on right has a medium blonde wavy hair. Behind them have green curtain acting as a wall. With white banners, in blue letters, "Minnesota Council on Disability" (Where the Commission staff were at as guests).
