Minnesotans eligible to again order free at-home COVID tests
Back to school means many Minnesotans are restocking COVID tests
The Minnesota Department of Health is offering Minnesotans free rapid at-home COVID-19 tests once again.
Orders can be placed once a month for up to eight rapid tests per household, according to MDH. The rapid antigen tests can be taken anywhere and provide results within 15 minutes.
The latest wastewater surveillance data shows COVID levels are continuing to rise in the Twin Cities metro, with the viral RNA load in the wastewater increasing 18% in the latest data compared to the prior week.
Test orders can be placed online or by calling the MDH COVID-19 hotline at 1-833-431-2053. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, rapid antigen tests are less likely
to detect COVID-19 than PCR tests, especially when someone is asymptomatic.
The Food and Drug Administration recommends individuals with symptoms take at least two antigen tests and those without symptoms take three antigen tests, performed 48 hours apart.
