'Kids Deserve a Shot’ Key Messages
● The State of Minnesota has launched ‘Kids Deserve a Shot,’ a vaccine incentives program encouraging Minnesotans 12-17 years old to roll up their sleeves and get fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
● Getting as many people vaccinated as possible is critical to curbing the spread of COVID-19.
● Right now, only 50% of Minnesotans 12-15 and less than 60% of Minnesotans 16-17 are fully vaccinated, the lowest vaccination rates of all eligible age groups.
● The State is launching ‘Kids Deserve a Shot’ to reward Minnesota youth for completing their vaccine series and building the broad community protection needed to keep our families and educators safe.
● The program consists of two sets of rewards for fully vaccinated 12-17 year olds:
○ a $200 Visa gift card for 12-17 year olds who start and complete their vaccine series over the next six weeks,
○ and five weeks of drawings for $100,000 Minnesota college scholarships and other fun Minnesota experiences for 12-17 year olds who have completed their vaccine series at any point in 2021.
● ‘Kids Deserve a Shot’ rewards students for getting their shot, protecting themselves, and keeping our schools, communities, and state safe.

● Registering is easy! Parents can fill out a basic form to verify their kid’s vaccination and provide contact information to receive the rewards.
○ Parents must register for their 12-17 year old. A person acting as a parent or guardian may fill out the form for an unaccompanied youth.
$200 Visa Gift Cards
● Minnesotans 12-17 years old who start and complete their two-dose COVID-19 vaccine series between October 18 and November 30 can register to receive a $200 Visa gift card.
● In order to be eligible, Minnesotans 12-17 must receive their first dose between October 18 and November 9 and receive their second dose by November 30.
● Parents/Guardians can register their 12-17 year old once they have completed their two-dose series.
● Registration for the $200 Visa gift card will open at 8:00am on November 9, 2021 and close at 11:59pm on November 30, 2021.
$100,000 Minnesota College Scholarship and Experience Drawings
● All Minnesotans 12-17 years old who have completed their COVID-19 vaccine series can have a chance to win a $100,000 Minnesota College Scholarship and more.
● The State of Minnesota will hold five drawings for a $100,000 scholarship to attend any public or private non-profit educational institution in the state of Minnesota.
● In addition to the $100,000 Minnesota College Scholarship Drawings, all fully vaccinated 12-17 year olds are eligible to enter drawings for fun Minnesota experiences. Minnesota experience drawing details will be announced in the coming weeks.
● Kids 12-17 must receive both doses of COVID-19 vaccine before being entered into the drawings.
● All Minnesotans 12-17 who have completed their two-dose COVID-19 vaccine series at any time in 2021 are eligible for the drawings.
● Parents or guardians must enter their 12-17 year old by the entry deadline to be eligible for the following drawing(s). Once a kid is entered, they will be included in all following drawings.
